Like “POEtry A Dark Tale,” the following nine Poe stories are the starting point for “POEtry Slam”: The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, Ligeia, William Wilson, The Premature Burial, Morella, and Hop-Frog. The aim was to capture Poe’s elements in a modern style, bringing Poe into the present in the form of performative poetry. Performance elements (onomatopoeia, repetitions, dramatic emphases) are presented in capital letters, the basic titles in italics.
The title of this “picture text” can be read in two ways. On the one hand, it can be read as “POEtry Slam,” and on the other hand, as “POE: Try Slam”; in both cases with a clear focus on Poe.
