As the title says, a wallpaper. I occasionally change the wallpapers on my computer screens, preferring personal motifs. In this case, it’s the background for my laptop based on the preliminary study “Win Background Vorstudie.” I wouldn’t go so far as to say that by leaving nature and logging into the computer I enter heaven (on earth)… but it is a bit like that. The sky—a fascination for me—stands for freedom and more, and I see the computer in a similar way. I have lived with computers since the mid-1980s, many decades in professional contexts and more recently in the creative field.
Two photos form the background of the picture: one showing a section of path leading around the park/garden of the property where I live, and the second showing a section of the sky above my home. The subsequently inserted door separates the photos, which are placed next to each other in the picture and merge into each other (as can be seen in the preliminary study for this wallpaper).
[A] The combination of the background of the picture (the sky) and another visual object may evoke an (English) term that is ambiguous in German and thus “calls up a second theme”.
[B] In addition, this combination may result in a new subject or an invented word through an equally pronounced but differently spelled word combination, as well as through a differently pronounced but equally spelled word.
C] Sometimes it is the title of the work that reveals the background and thematic association of the image.
[D] And in the one or other case it is just a modified photograph.
