Achieving goals that do not appear to be achievable because real circumstances and difficulties stand in the way is the thing of the sky striker (‘Himmelstürmer’ in German). For him there are no obstacles, “the sky is wide open” (to paraphrase the blessed Tom Petty). But in the end, even he finds his limits … “SKYstriker” (‘Himmelsjäger’) also stands for cards which are part of a Japanese Trading Card Game (Yu-Gi-Oh) and consist mainly of Magic Cards and Link Monsters.

The photograph is of the sky over Callantsoog, North Holland, and the work is therefore part of the ‘Playing around with Callantsoog skies’ series. The SKY series explores the theme of “SKY” on three levels: visual, written, and sound.
