The work is a variation of the 'SKeYe' theme. By installing a refraction measuring glass, the sub-topic "eye exam at the optician's" is built up. The photograph is of the sky over Callantsoog, North Holland, and the work is therefore part of the 'Playing around with Callantsoog skies' series. The SKY series explores the theme of "SKY" on three levels: visual, written, and sound. [A] The combination of the background of the picture (the sky) and another visual object may evoke an (English) term that is ambiguous in German and thus "calls up a second/third theme". [B] In addition,...
"Translucent Memories" describes an image in my head that now also serves as the background image for my private data cloud - a reminder of our shared past or a preview of a shared future with my beloved C†. The photograph is the North Sea sky near Bremerhaven, and the work is, in the broadest sense, part of the SKY series. The SKY series explores the theme of "SKY" on three levels: visual, written, and sound. When the nocturnal background for 'SEAshell' was finished, I had scenes from 'Sleepless in Seattle' (Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks) in mind. So the work became the prequel to 'Seattle'. Even though "SEAttle" is more than 100 miles away from the Pacific Ocean, I associate the city with the sea. Perhaps it is due to the interconnected waterways of Puget Sound that separate Seattle from the open ocean. The background is a combination of a true and a slightly modified, freely available photograph, and the work is part of the 'Playing around with Callantsoog skies and waters' series. The...
"SEAshell" refers to both the shell's exoskeleton and the seawater shell itself. More than that, the term "shell" conjures up an image of a gas station rising from the sea at night under a full moon—an image that is not necessarily associated with our environment in a positive way. The background is a combination of a true and a slightly modified, freely available photograph, and the work is part of the 'Playing around with Callantsoog skies and waters' series. The combsined SKY and SEA series explores the theme of "SKY" and "SEA" on three levels: visual, written, and sound....
To make things easier for those who are unfamiliar with the international phonetic alphabet or who may not know it at all, here is the re-transformation into the source language. In the case of phonemic pictures whose source language is not English, a translation into English is also carried out.“Tinchen IV” is the fourth of series of five cohesive phonemic pictures which was realized with the aim of explaining what a phonemic picture is and how it is created. Although the penultimate in the series, the work is the final product. “Tinchen” is the diminutive of the German...
The term "LohgoRhythms" is another word mark that stands behind "ARSLOHGO". With the night sky it describes the rhythm of creation, the "working hours". While the majority of the works are created at night, work on this site takes place during the day - if there is time. The photograph is of the sky over Callantsoog, North Holland, and the work is therefore part of the 'Playing around with Callantsoog skies' series. The SKY series explores the theme of "SKY" on three levels: visual, written, and sound. [A] The combination of the background of the picture (the sky) and another...
